The Anxieties are a four-piece band from Portland, Oregon playing a style of punk rock that hearkens back to its origins in the late 70's and early 80's. The band originally formed in Eugene in 2002 from the ashes of a "thrash-pop" band called the Wristrockets. Vocalist/guitarist Scott Von Rocket and drummer Dylan Auf Kilter wanted to move away from the unrelenting break-neck speeds of their previous effort and return to the roots of punk rock before hardcore had upped the miles-per-hour. The group immediately filled the bass spot with Monkee Torture axeman Tristan Tower, though the intention was always to move him to lead guitar. The arrival of San Diego transplant Matt Adore facilitated the move and began to cement the change in sound. Family commitments caused Dylan's departure from the band in 2005, and he was soon replaced by Kellen Terrett for the better part of a year.
The 2006 relocation to Portland caused the next line-up change. With Tristan & Kellen remaining in Eugene the lead guitar spot was filled by long-time collaborator Dr. Glenn, and former Axes Of Evil drummer Chris Regard took over the drums in November of '06. Recent work and family commitments led to Dr. Glenn stepping down at the end of Summer '09, with Joey Esquire of the Radio Towers coming on board to take his place.
The Anxieties have released two 7-inch vinyl singles on Infringement Records and Plastic Idol Records, as well as a full-length CD, "The Next Mutation" on Lab Rat Industries. For what the critics have had to say, go: here
